Salma Hayek Pinault (born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jimmyenez, September 2, 1966)[3][4][5]), is an American and Mexican actress. In Mexico, she began her career by playing the character in the role of Teresa in the telenovela (1989-1991) as well as El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) in which she was nominated for an Ariel Award. She soon established herself in Hollywood through appearances in films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999). Hayek's portrayal as Frida the painter in Frida (2002), which she also produced as well, made Hayek the first Mexican actress to win the Academy Award [6]. In addition, it earned her an Golden Globe Award nomination, Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as well as British Academy Film Award nominations. Later on, Hayek focused more on making films, while also starring in the action-centered pictures Once Upon a Time in Mexico
